Count down had begun for the blast of Assam associations celebrations in Capital with the announcement of Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Khan & Ayaan Ali Khan performances “Strings for Peace” on 8 February 2008 at Siri Fort Auditorium in the Capital. A press conference held at Vittal Bhai House, Constitutional Club by Captain Barua-Assam Association, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Khan & Ayaan Ali Khan to announce these celebrations. 
During these celebrations, Delhitees can experience the flavor of Assam as Assam Association Delhi bringing traditional Dance & Music, Ethnic Cloths and much more in Capital from the land of fairs and festivals Assam.
These celebrations will start with the performances of Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Khan & Ayaan Ali Khan and continues with the four days Assam Festival at Delhi Haat from (21st to 24th Feb) where a fashion show is to be organized and more than 150 artists from North East to take part, Traditional and Cultural shows by local artists from Assam are going to enthrall Delhitees with their unique blazing, compelling and mesmerizing performing arts where one can enjoy Bihu, Faidiba, Lion Dance, Chiro, Nangkhren, Bagurumba dance forms.
Plenary session and cultural evening, where all Ex- Presidents and General Secretaries of Assam Association will be invited and felicitated and Open House discussion on Indian Cultural Heritage on 6th of March. Lecture on Assam’s Glorious History will be delivered by eminent personalities such as Lt. Gen S.K. Sinha. PVSM, Governor of J&K. Hon’ble Union Minister Manishankar Aiyar will address the gathering on Opportunities and Roadblocks: Look East. A sermon will be delivered by Sir Mark Tully on Telling the North East Story: The conflict and the media. A lecture by famous film maker Jahnu Barua - A United North East- My Never Ending Dreams (tentative title) and Dr. Ramachandra Guha will speak on the History of Indipendence as if the North East mattered. All these lectures will be preceded by high tea and followed by an interactive session.
Apart from above An All India College Students’ essay competition on Sankaradeva: a Saint-Poet-Artist and Scholor: Last date for entry 1st March ’08 to reach General Secretary, Assam Association. A grand cultural show to coincide with the Rongali Bihu celebrations at Laxmibai Nagar, Samaj Sadan open air theatre. Performances of singers Zubin Garg and Debojit Saha are the main attractions of these celebrations.
